Compliment Table: LET ME IN (2010, Matt Reeves)

Let Me In (dir. by Matt Reeves)

Let Me In (dir. by Matt Reeves)

To some these may be fighting words, but Matt Reeves' take on John Ajvide Lindqvist's novel Let the Right One In outshines Tomas Alfredson's 2008 film. Why? I don't know. Maybe it starts with Kodi Smit-McPhee's portrayal of Owen, the lonely 12-year-old protagonist. Maybe it is the care with which Reeves shapes character. I recognize that these comparatives are unnecessary, but still, vagueries aside, bite me.
